Second retirement of the season for JEV
Unfortunately, the Monza Grand Prix was short for Jean-Eric Vergne. In the pack, the Toro Rosso driver lost control of his car, on lap ten, at the first chicane. Therefore, he had to retire for the second time of the season.
“I was taken from the accident to the Medical Centre, but apart from a bit of pain in my back and my head, I am fine” said Jean-Eric. “I don’t know why I crashed. All I can remember is that when I braked, I completely lost control of the back end of the car. I felt a big impact when the car landed after going up in the air. The kerb is high at that point and I count myself lucky that the car did not flip over.” The team now need to look into this incident causes.
Formula 1 is now leaving Europe. Next stop Singapour, in two weeks, where Jean-Eric Vergne will race at night for the first time.
