A standard working friday

For the first time Jean-Eric Vergne features today the new exhaust system developed by the Scuderia Toro Rosso. The French driver completed 56 laps in Valencia, under very hot conditions. Eighteenth in Free Practice 1 and twentieth in the afternoon, JEV and his team were working on the set up, using different tyres compound in order to prepare the race.

“I have raced here before, a few years back in GP3”, remembers Jean-Eric. “Of course, it’s a very different circuit from the cockpit of a Formula 1 car, but at least I had some idea what to expect.”

“We did a lot of work on set-up, trying things linked to the exhaust system configuration that was first used by Daniel in Montreal. In general, we need some more speed and a couple of tenths off the lap times, because we are not fast enough. I think if we can make just small improvements in a few areas, then we can find more pace tomorrow.”

The third free practice session will take place on Saturday morning, at 11h00 and the qualifying at 14h00.
